Peñíscola is a city located on a rocky peninsula, in the province of Castellón (municipality of Valencia), on the east coast of Spain.

 

Its castle, which overlooks the sea from the top of a large mound, allows you to plunge back without difficulty into the past of the knights and fortresses of these lands of the Maestrazgo. Pope Benedict XIII, Peter of the Moon, chose this place to cloister himself and fight for the unity of the Catholic Church. The fortress occupies the highest point of the peninsula. Its courtyard is a delightful balcony with a view of the Mediterranean, and the dungeon, an incomparable platform for contemplating the coastline. 

 

But this jewel of the peninsula's heritage, where the old village is located, is only part of the current municipality, which extends well beyond its ramparts. Its many hotels, apartments and housing estates today bear witness to the tourist importance of this beach, which has become fashionable.
